Thalassia is a marine seagrass genus comprising 2 species.[1]

Species

T. testudinum Banks ex König is the type specimen.[1] It is native to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean with specimens found as far east as Bermuda.[1] It has a fossil record in the Gulf to the Middle Eocene.[1]

T. hemprichii (Ehrenb.) Asch. (Turtle grass) is native to the shores of the Indian Ocean and the Western Pacific Ocean.[1][2]
